After the upgrade, Safari and Seamonkey wouldn’t work either. Chrome isn’t compatible with the EDI partner. We were essentially shut down. The only thing I could think of was to totally uninstall every last trace of Reader that I could find on her machine and install an old version of Reader.

This is ridiculous. I don’t understand how something can work and then not. It’s like people do it on purpose. Word I send.pdf’s to my clients through invoices, estimates, proofs, etc.

Then they used NPAPI, which is cross-browser, but somehow wrote it in such a way that it depended on specific internal browser details and still only really worked in Safari IIRC (it certainly didn't work in Chrome, and couldn't be made to due to its design) I haven't looked at their latest version, but if it's not in the plugin list one possibility is they released it 64-bit only.
